Committed to justice, peace, and care of the earth
Who we are
A committed group of activists who have chosen to live in intentional community at Pilgrim Place in Claremont, California. We gathered In March of 2025 and agreed to turn our collective experience in strategic advocacy and organizing to address the onslaught of attacks by the current presidential administration. We selected two areas (Community Interconnections and Social Security/Medicaid Protection) in which to initially focus this work, which may expand or shift in priority as needed.
Pilgrim Place is a residential community for older adults, currently including retired clergy, community organizers, educators, and change makers from diverse backgrounds. The views expressed in this website reflect those of The Justice Groups members, and may not align with all community residents, or with those of the administration and staff of Pilgrim Place.
Community
Interconnections
Starting with immigrant and refugee issues as one lens, this subgroup will explore how we build on our existing connections to expand our values-based commitments. We hope to build on the legacy of Pilgrim Place residents who have served over decades as both a voice and a presence on justice issues, and to invigorate external collaborators currently working with other community organizations.

Protecting Social Security & Medicaid
These issues impact our entire community. They are issues that affect over 70 million Americans in our age category whom we can mobilize to fight off the attacks by the current US government's leadership. As part of this process, we can also work to build momentum towards 2026, and elections which will re-build a majority in the House of Representatives to ensure these vital protections continue.
